If the sign poses an immediate hazard, please report it to the City by calling 1300 4 CANNING (1300 422 664).
This will allow an Officer to respond with the highest priority.

If the complaint is about the content of the sign (e.g. you feel that the sign is offensive or breaches some form of advertising code), please contact Ad Standards, PO Box 5110, Braddon ACT 2612 or phone (02) 6173 1500.
All complaints to Ad Standards must be made via their complaint form

An election sign is a bill, poster, placard or advertisement relating to any election which is attached to or pasted, painted, or stencilled on any hoarding, wall, building, or structure whether erected upon private property or in a public place. This does not include signs erected by the Council for the purpose of public information.
Election signage cannot be placed on City verges.
Election signage can be placed on private property after the election has been called, with the approval of the owner, so long as the signage does not create a public safety issue. No development approval is required.
Election signage cannot be placed on private property without approval of the owner. Owners are required to contact the relevant Party for collection or complaint. The City cannot get involved in these matters.

People are sometimes unaware that their activities are causing a problem.
The City encourages all residents and business operators to talk to their neighbours about any issues before making a complaint.
